Uncertain times? 3 ways to reset Your resilience and move forward

Have you noticed the uncertainty in the air? The media certainly wants us to focus on it. In times like these, it’s easy to feel distracted, overwhelmed, or even stuck. But if we’re going to make real progress—in our work, our relationships, and our lives—we can’t be 95% committed or even 99% committed. We must go all in. I call this being exponentially committed.

Today, I want to share three powerful strategies that will help you get unstuck, lean into change, and stay focused on what truly matters. Watch my video and read my quick outline below. Let’s dive in.

#1 – Shift Your Perspective

Right now, take a deep breath and step back. One of the best ways to regain focus is by shifting how you see the situation. Today, I shifted my own perspective by stepping outside near my home, climbing, and reconnecting with nature. It helped me clear my mind and refocus on what truly matters.

Think back five years. We were on the brink of a global pandemic—facing a level of uncertainty and chaos most of us had never experienced before. Yet, we made it through. You made it through. Yes, things might feel uncertain today, but if you compare it to what we’ve already overcome, it gives you strength. Remind yourself and those around you: We’ve handled tough times before. We’ll handle this, too.

#2 – Encourage Others

During the pandemic, I shared a video encouraging people to remind each other: We don’t know exactly how, but we will get through this—together.

Encouragement is powerful. It’s one of the greatest gifts we can give, second only to love. Right now, let someone on your team, a family member, or a friend know that you believe in them. Whether or not you have an official leadership title, your words can be a guiding light for someone who needs it. Say it loud: I believe in us. We’ve got this. Let’s stay focused on the good we’re doing in the world.

#3 – Declare Your Current Climb

One of my favorite strategies—and one that always resonates with my keynote audiences—is the idea of declaring your current climb. Here’s what that means:

Pick one key initiative that you will move forward every single day. Just one. I know you have multiple projects and challenges, but identifying a single focus creates momentum. Commit to spending even 5, 10, or 20 minutes each morning pushing that initiative forward. When you do, you’ll find that progress in one area fuels progress in others, pulling you out of stagnation and into action.

Moving Forward—With Purpose

To recap, when chaos and uncertainty try to pull you off course, remember these three strategies:

Shift Your Perspective – Step back, breathe, and remind yourself of the obstacles you’ve already overcome.

Encourage Others – Let people know you believe in them. Your words have the power to inspire action.

Declare Your Current Climb – Choose one initiative and commit to making daily progress on it.

Don’t let negativity and uncertainty dictate your direction. Stay exponentially committed. Move forward with purpose. And remember—I believe in you.
